TV Wall Mount Bracket
Nowadays we find that we have so many gadgets that we often find ourselves lacking space to store the properly. Televisions in particular consume a lot of surface area that could otherwise be used for other things. Though recent innovations have made LCD, LED, and plasma TVs possible, many people still go for the traditional CRT type of TV, since they are cheaper and are of excellent performance. Innovations to the classic TV have made it brighter, slimmer, and lighter, but by no means as slim or light as the other types of TV. The various improvements on the other hand have made mounting these CRT TVs on wall brackets possible.
Using a TV wall mount bracket saves you space by taking the TV off of the shelf or other flat surface you put it on and suspend it using a platform attached to an armature, which is attached to the wall. This allows you to position the TV with several points of articulation and a fair degree of movement. Once you have tilted, turned, and swung the TV into the position you want it, just lock the points down to keep them from adjusting on their own.
Of course, not all of these useful products are made equal. Before going off to buy one, make sure to consider the following criteria.
You will want to choose from the different styles. Though the wall mount brackets for CRT TVs generally follow the platform-and-arm model, there are actually quite a few variations on it. These variants give different degrees and axes of adjustment, so look for the one you need. If you need something that can be adjusted to fit any situation, go for more points of articulation. If you want to be able to adjust it just a little, go for fewer points of articulation. Remember that the more points of articulation, the more points of potential disastrous failure.
The heaviest point to consider when choosing a TV wall mount bracket is weight, no pun intended. You have to know the weight of your television in order to make the right choices. Check for the manufacturer’s weight ratings first, and make sure that it can handle the strain, even when fully extended. The size of the platform should also match your TV size.
Upon inspecting a TV wall mount bracket that suits your tastes, you will need to check the various points that connect the pieces. The plate that goes onto the wall must be thick and sturdy, with enough holes for screws and reinforcement around those holes. The various points along the adjustment arm should also be strong, since they are the most likely points to fail. Lastly, the platform onto which the TV or LCD is to be attached should have a fair number of attachment points for different configurations, since not all TVs mount the same way. Check for attachment points on your TV, and make a scale drawing if you must, otherwise you might end up buying something you can’t use easily.
